ADHD Support Group

Miners for Recovery

Start Date: Sept. 8th, 1st Thursday of each month
Time: 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

If you have been diagnosed with ADHD or struggle with some or many of the symptoms – inattention, difficulty paying attention to details, inability to follow through on tasks, trouble with organization, losing things, easily distracted, forgetful – this group of students can help you figure out solutions to your challenges.

 

This peer-led support group is designed to help students lead a more balanced life. We’ll help you in your process of recovery by providing opportunities to form connections, locate resources, and increase self-awareness. Students who are in recovery or have family members in recovery are welcome at any time.

 

Anger Management

Miner Student-Athlete Support

An 8 week group whose purpose is to help students manage anger effectively, stop violence or the threat of violence, develop self-control over thoughts and actions, and receive support from others.

 

Our support group will help student-athletes manage the stressors and challenges related to success both on and off the field. Topics such as time management, self-care, and managing competing expectations will be built into the group.

 

Asperger’s Support Group

RISE to the Challenge: Resilience Skills

This ongoing group focuses on select topics of interest and discussions with students diagnosed on the Autistic Spectrum. The group listens, understands, and provides guidance to assist each other in developing the skills needed for college success. Students share information about campus resources and organizations that allow them to become more comfortably engaged with the campus community.

 

One of the best tools to help you overcome challenges is resilience. Being a resilient person helps you improve academically, socially, and emotionally. Join this group for skills and empowerment to make healthy choices and be more successful (structured topics).

 

The Body Project

Safety Group

Start Date : Sept. 8th, Every Thursday
Time: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Four weekly sessions will include verbal, written, and behavioral exercises that examine the culturally sanctioned thin beauty ideal. These activities have been shown to result in decreased subscription to the “thin-ideal” and promote consequent reductions in body dissatisfaction, negative mood, and dieting behaviors.

 

We offer a highly structured group for students with the goal of reducing PTSD symptoms and increasing safety (12 weeks of topics).

 

Building a Better You!

Worriers to Warriors: Conquering Test Anxiety

General therapy group: Please join us for help, support, advice, guidance, and assistance in BUILDING A BETTER YOU!

 

This 3-part workshop will help you identify the root causes of test anxiety. You’ll gain practical skills in stress management, learn how to rewrite your negative thinking, and find new ways to manage daily tasks and incorporate studying into your school routine.

Victim Support Group

If social anxiety is a problem for you, consider group an opportunity to improve your communication and social skills and raise the probability of developing stronger friendships and having a more fulfilling social life (structured 7 week group).

 

Are you a victim of crime or a victim of racial or gender discrimination? We have your back! Find the respect you deserve! This is a peer support group -- our goal is for you to feel safer, find support, and discover the strength to move forward.

 

Drop-In mindfulness/relaxation
