MISSION STATEMENT:
Student Wellness promotes healthy behaviors to create a campus environment conducive to academic, professional, and personal success and growth.

WHAT IS WELLNESS?
Wellness is an active, continuing process of becoming more conscious of and making choices towards a fulfilling and thriving life.

The well-being of the individual and community are multidimensional, interconnected and interdependent. It is vital to address both individual and environmental influences on health and well-being. An environmental approach recognizes that individuals are influenced both positively and negatively by the behaviors of others.

WELLNESS & HEALTH TOPICS
Student Wellness provides students education, information and resources on:

  • Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs
  • Stress
  • Nutrition/Healthy Eating
  • Physical Activity and Fitness
  • Disordered Eating
  • Sexual Health
  • Depression and Suicide
  • Sexual Violence

 

PROGRAMS & SERVICES

  • Presentations/workshops: contact the Health Educator to request a presentation for your group or class on a range of wellness and health topics
  • Social marketing campaigns
  • Special Events: see schedule below
  • Information/awareness tables
  • On-line education and resources: provided through e-CHECKUP TO GO and the wellness website
  • One-on-one consultations: schedule an appointment with the Health Educator to ask questions and/or discuss concerns regarding a wellness topic

MEET JOE'S P.E.E.R.S.
Joe's P.E.E.R.S (Providing Education, Encouragement, and Resources for Students) is an organization of volunteer peer educators who work in unison with S&T Student Wellness to provide assistance and promote healthy behaviors among students through interactive programming, awareness campaigns, and distribution of health education materials.
